About CIN

The Community Integration Network (CIN) is a service from the Catholic Centre for Immigrants, funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
CIN will provide a coordination function to support the delivery of settlement programs and activities under the Community Connections service stream in Ontario. This includes Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) and Library Settlement Partnerships (LSP).
PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES:
In consultation with CIC and in collaboration with the service providers, CIN will work towards standards, tools, resources and program coordination that support the effective delivery of services under the Community Connections stream. Through the coordination role, CIN will ensure that programming under Community Connections is informed by stakeholder input and addresses the barriers and needs of both newcomers and communities.
The CIN team is responsible for the following main activities:
- Professional Development & Training: Plan and deliver professional development and training sessions for service providers involved in activities under the Community Connections stream.
- Resources: Manage and distribute available Community Connections resources, including the current stock of printed materials for SWIS, LSP and Community Connections.
- Reporting Processes: Work with CIC’s Ontario Region and the Community Connections service providing agencies and stakeholders to improve reporting processes for consistency and improved, outcome-focused performance measures.
- Service Delivery: Engage the service providers to identify issues in program delivery, assess trends, new initiatives, best practices and challenges, make recommendations for program development and enhancement and notify CIC of issues with suggested resolutions.
- Francophone Programs: Develop agendas, organize events, and find and prepare resources for events which are tailored to the needs of francophone programs, in collaboration with the francophone provincial coordination team for TÉÉ and the francophone service providers.
- Encourage Collaboration under Community Connections: Convene interdisciplinary meetings to develop and implement strategies to strengthen service links between programs under Community Connections in consultation with CIC.
Our initial general tasks include:
- Updating Agency Information: Updating the information about services, contact persons, number of staff, etc., from all organizations delivering settlement services in the Community Connections stream.
- Preparing Professional Development Sessions: Review training needs identified in the past year and develop the initial “Professional Development menu” in consultation with service providers.
- Convening initial interdisciplinary meetings with Service Providers to discuss the focus and content of CIN’s work plan for the fiscal year 2012-2013.
